Team DHVTSU stood out among more than 30 participating schools in the country after bagging the first place award in the Audio Visual Presentation (AVP) Short Video Category of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) Virtual TV competition held in PAF GymnasiumCol. Jesus Villamor Air Base in Pasay City on June 19, 2018.

The team was composed of Dan Louis M. Dela Cruz, Jay Emmanuel D. Macatuno, Kiel Patrick G. Gatbonton, Reyne Mark M. Pascual, and Carlo Miguel L. Halili, who are all Grade 12 students of the Senior High School Department of the Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University in Bacolor, Pampanga. They were handpicked by their adviser Rhiziel P. Manalese, who said that she is aware of the students’ skills and capabilities, and she wanted them to experience such a rare opportunity to further develop not just their cognitive skills but also their interpersonal competencies and core values.

In collaboration with the 5th Fighter Wing (5FW) Public Information Team, headed by Wing Commander Col. Fabian M. Pedregosa, Team DHVTSU produced a one-minute AVP that focused on the Wing’s values such as integrity, service above self, teamwork, excellence, professionalism, harmony, achievement, spirituality, sportsmanship, and trust.

“We won because our focus is not to win but to be exposed, to share, to help, and to support PAF,” Manalese related. “Other factors are the camaraderie that was developed within the group and the 100 percent support of the 5th Fighter Wing. Everybody played their role very well. There was an equal division and delegation of tasks,” she added.

“The University has taught us to be nationally and globally competitive in everything that we do,” explained Macatuno on what sets DHVTSU education apart from the other institutions.

“We have dedicated and competent faculty. We are contributing for us to realize the vision of the University. We have a sense of ‘ownership’ with regard to the Vision-Mission of DHVTSU,” Manalese seconded.

Aside from a Certificate of Recognition as Champion, the team was awarded 20,000Php. The competition, with the aim of promoting PAF to the general public, was one of the activities organized by PAF in celebration of its 71st Anniversary on July 3, 2018.
